Ensorfest ‘24
May 11 @ 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Join John & Carol Hamblin for a walk back in time at Ensorfest ’24. While displaying our cars at the historic Ensor farm in south Olathe, we can explore the grounds of this pioneer home established
in 1875. The farm is now designated a National Historic Site, where the original 1875 pioneer cabin still stands. The farm functioned as a dairy farm through the years. Eventually the farm was handed down to Marshal Ensor and his sister Loretta. While Marshal served as an Industrial Arts teacher in the Olathe School District from 1915-1965, his sister managed the farm. Collectively they nurtured an interest in Morse Code and Amateur radio technology. As early
adopters, they went on to teach radio and Morse Code to over 10,000 students across America from 1929-1941. Many of those students went on to support the WWII war effort as radio operators
and technicians, winning the Ensors national recognition. Today, the home and many of the original outbuildings serve as a historic site,
complete with the original radio transmitter and 90 ft tower. The
farmstead truly is a walk back in time. For more information, go to www.ensorparkandmuseum.org.
